Project Spotlight: Vegetation Management Plan Update, Naval Base Point Loma, California
February 15, 2017
Vernadero Group Inc. was recently awarded a contract by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command to prepare an update to Naval Base Point Loma's Vegetation Management Plan, which was last updated in 2012. The Vegetation Management Plan provides comprehensive guidelines that aid the Natural Resources Office of the U.S. Navy in its decision making when assessing natural resource impacts during National Environmental Policy Act compliance analyses. To complete the update, Vernadero will utilize recent vegetation survey data from Naval Base Point Loma and conduct new Basewide botanical surveys. These surveys will involve assessing all past and current habitat restoration sites, identifying areas suitable for future habitat restoration activities, mapping invasive plant species, and completing surveys for Agave shawii, Aphanisma blitoides, Bergerocactus emoryi, Ceonothus verrucosus, and Leptosyne maritima.
