Michael Collins, PhD

Founder, President & Construction Services Director

Michael Collins, PhD, is the founder, President & Construction Services Director of Vernadero. He is a U.S. Navy veteran with more than 20 years of experience as a DoD public works and environmental services executive. Dr. Collins is personally committed to setting and monitoring the current and future direction of Vernadero. He excels in finding opportunities to match federal government infrastructure and environmental program requirements with experienced contract programs and well-educated consulting professionals. Doing so in a cost-effective and timely manner that provides a strong value proposition to the government is his expertise. He has a long track record developing and managing large DoD Agency and Installation engineering and environmental performance-based contracts, programs and projects. Dr. Collins is the current Mayor of the Town of Paradise Valley, Arizona.

Eric Webb, PhD

Vice President & Technical Services Director

Eric Webb, PhD, is the Vice President and Technical Services Director for Vernadero. He has 22 years of experience directing environmental studies for military and water resources projects nationwide. He has managed indefinite delivery contracts for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Naval Facilities Engineering Command and has successfully completed hundreds of task orders in support of the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, Department of State, and Department of Transportation. He has participated in and supervised studies regarding wetland delineations and determinations, riparian and wetland habitat restoration design and implementation, natural resources surveys and management planning, Endangered Species Act Section 7 consultation support, and the preparation of Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements to meet National Environmental Policy Act compliance requirements. Eric works closely with clients, staff, and regulatory professionals to ensure that innovative solutions are provided to complex environmental planning and compliance problems.

William Keiper

Executive Advisor

William Keiper is Executive Advisor of Vernadero. Mr. Keiper possesses deep executive and Board experience encompassing eight publicly-listed technology and technology-related companies, domestic and global, and numerous private companies. His experience includes software and hardware development, manufacturing and distribution, high security electronics, networking, offshore development, contract manufacturing, outsourcing and IT product distribution and services. He also has extensive M&A transaction experience as a CEO, Board member and professional advisor. He has served as a valued advisor for the Company.

Dan Becker, GISP

Information Systems & Technology Director

Dan Becker, GISP, is the Information Systems & Technology Director for Vernadero, providing GIS, GPS, data collection, management and validation, and other technical services for clients across the country. A certified Geographic Information Systems Professional, Dan is an expert in analyzing and providing quality control for GIS and remote sensing data, including LiDAR and digital elevation modeling. He is also skilled in creating Web and intranet sites, customized interactive maps, real-time user-friendly interfaces for Environmental Management System sites, and GPS interfaces for iPad, iPhone, and other mobile devices used in the field. He is proficient with DoD-specific requirements for compliance, including SDSFIE, Federal Geographic Data Committee metadata specifications, and Army Mapper Quality Assurance Plans. He is also skilled with ArcGIS, Spatial Analyst, ModelBuilder, various programming languages and Microsoft SQL and the ArcGIS software suite. He works closely with Vernadero's clients to identify their unique GIS, GPS, and data management needs and develop customized solutions.

Joanne Maiden

Business Manager

Joanne Maiden is the Business Manager for Vernadero. She brings more than two decades of experience in accounting, finance, and treasury management to the company. At Vernadero, she provides a wide range of services relating to Department of Defense and other government contracts with the Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Mission Installation Contracting Command, General Services Administration, and installations nationwide. Joanne supports company and program leadership by performing accounting/financial reporting, human resources, office management, and recordkeeping. Among other duties, Joanne manages contract billings, account payable, accounts receivable, payroll and personnel records. Her experience puts her in a strong position to safeguard company assets and maintain strong financial control.

Mike Smith, REM

Client Support Manager

Mike Smith, REM, is a U.S. Army veteran who brings more than 40 years of experience to his role as Client Support Manager for Vernadero's staffing services and environmental health and safety services. During his career, he has managed numerous on-site staffing and personal services contracts in support of U.S. Army Reserve and U.S. Army environmental compliance and natural resource requirements. His experience has focused on helping our clients with the management, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials and hazardous waste, including emergency response. Mr. Smith trains client staff in the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, RCRA, CERCLA, and TSCA among other governmental regulations. He also provides deploying military units with training in biological risks, hazardous materials and hazardous waste. Mr. Smith is a registered environmental manager.

Wayne Alves

Client Support Manager

Client satisfaction is the driving force behind Vernadero's success as a small business, and we are blessed to offer former Department of Defense Program Specialist and Supervisor Wayne Alves. REM as part of our continuing commitment to client service. As one of Vernadero's Client Relationship Managers, Wayne helps build strong, productive relationships with client representatives to ensure we meet or exceed current expectations in achieving program and project goals. He also coordinates with prospective clients and teaming partners that are good matches with Vernadero's mission, values, and services. Wayne has over 40 years of DoD experience, including managing 150 facility, construction, environmental, and personal services contracts for the U.S. Army Reserve. During his DoD career he also served as an Environmental Protection Specialist Supervisor and Facilities Management Specialist. A Registered Environmental Manager, Wayne is thoroughly experienced with DoD contracts and business practices.

Gretchen Kent

Client Support Manager

Drawing on nearly two decades of military experience, Gretchen Kent, a U.S. Army veteran and former Director of Plans Analysis and Integration at U.S. Army Garrison Fort Huachuca in southern Arizona helps strengthen Vernadero's existing client relationships and build productive, long-lasting relationships with new Department of Defense clients. She confirms that Vernadero meets or exceeds program and project goals while assisting us in identifying value-added client benefits. Gretchen has 25 years of environmental and engineering experience, including 18 years of service at Fort Huachuca. Her experience at Fort Huachuca ranged from project supervision to oversight of the Fort's air, water, and hazardous waste programs. Gretchen is well versed in DoD and other federal regulations as they relate to DoD projects and mission requirements. She has received numerous awards during her career, including the 2012 Commander's Award for Civilian Service.
